Stretch Sensor Arrays for Deformation and Motion Capture
Oliver Glauser – Capskin Sensors
We present dense stretch sensor arrays to interactively capture deformation and motion (of wrists, elbows, biceps and even the human hand) without requiring an external optical setup. We demonstrate how our devices can be fabricated at low cost, using simple tools available in most fabrication labs. To reconstruct geometry from the embedded capacitive sensors, we propose deep network architectures.

Capskin Sensors are fully soft, thin and stretch-sensing. They interactively capture 3D motion without requiring an external optical setup. To reconstruct the pose from the embedded capacitive sensors, we employ a deep network architecture that exploits the spatial layout of the sensor itself. As a simple sleeve, it can capture human joints and fabricated in the shape of a glove it can even capture the complex human hand.
